
Maali Luqman is a fellow with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation & Center for Creative Leadership’s Community Leadership Network; a fellowship centered around children, community, leadership, diversity, equity, and inclusion. As a community leader, she is also one of the nationwide Legacy Cities Fellows. She served as a District Associate Dean at the largest community college district in Michigan and a teacher throughout Michigan and abroad. She secured nearly 7000 votes during her Candidacy for Dearborn Public Schools and Henry Ford College Board of Education and currently serves as a member of the college’s Board of Trustee ad-HOC committee. Maali was appointed to serve on the first ever Wayne County Women’s Commission, representing Wayne County’s 13th district. Maali served in education for 17 years, beginning as a paraprofessional, teacher, and SIOP coach. She’s worked on all levels of education, in mainstream, ESL, and special needs classrooms and as an administrator overseeing college operations. She then transitioned to leadership roles as an Associate Dean at a college and candidate for school board before being appointed to the Women’s Commission.
