
Imam Omar Patel completed his formal Islamic education in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Arabic and Islamic Studies from Madrassa Arabia Islamiyya, South Africa. Upon returning to Canada, he pursued his Master of Pastoral Studies with a specialization in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy at the University of Toronto.
In 2015, Imam Omar began his service as a Muslim Chaplain at the University of Toronto Scarborough campus. He has complemented his studies in Psychotherapy with certification from the Toronto Center for Psychotherapy and Counselling. Thereafter, he has been working extensively with communities across Canada to increase mental health awareness and trailblazing efforts to provide solutions within the Muslim community. Imam Omar`s professional interests include the integration of Islamic sciences with mental health care. His clinical experience includes working with adolescents, couples, and families to overcome various mental health and relationship concerns.
