I'll be using a borrowed or rented car for my Red Hook driving exam. What should I inspect before test day to make sure the vehicle meets DMV requirements and won't cause any unexpected problems?

Yes, they checked the horn, signals, and foot brake right at the start, so making sure everything works beforehand gives you total peace of mind!
