sister, this is an excellent question, and I believe is very pertinent to how Muslims approach “self improvement”. The fear of not having “Reda’a” stops many people from questioning themselves and the situation they find themselves in. I personally believe we as Muslims should always seek for ways to improve our situation and strive to understand ourselves better.
An important verse in the Quran guides us in the right direction, “O You who believe! Be mindful of God, and let every soul look to what it has sent forth for tomorrow (Day-of-Judgment); and fear God, for God is well aware of everything you do. And do not be like those who forget God, so God made them forget themselves (their souls): they are the rebellious ones.” (59:18,19)
Allah knows best.

Islam is a religion of balance, acceptance of Allah سُبحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ 's decree is primary to our belief, but the pursuit of what matters within His decree is not to be dismissed. With that said, there can be different context to hating a person/situation, for eg. if the said person/situation is oppressive and abusive, acceptance may not be the most suitable response, the matter would have to be dealt with support from family and/or authorities, but if the lack of acceptance is coming from a place of discontentment with life and not being able to see and appreciate ones blessings, then the place to look is the heart, is it chasing something within the Dunya or is its goal the Akhirah? And Allah سُبحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ knows best, hope that helps ‎إن شاء الله‬.
